Featuring Calgary mobile veterinarian Dr. Wendy McClelland and co-host Greg Habstritt from Vets To Go. This episode originally aired September 20th, 2015 on News Talk 770 AM.
Here’s what we covered in this week’s show:
Recent research suggests that more than 50% of abused women who have animals reported delaying leaving their abusers because of their pets. We’re talking with the Calgary Humane Society to learn about their Pet Safekeeping Program that helps board animals involved in domestic abuse situations, as well as their Emergency Boarding Program that helps pet guardians temporarily affected by a sudden illness, fires or floods and need temporary shelter for their animals.
Plus, if you’re not a veterinarian yourself, it can sometimes be hard to tell a mild health problem from a true medical emergency. Dr. Wendy walks us through some of the more common health issues pet guardians experience and how you can tell if your pet’s health concern warrants a trip to the emergency clinic.
Dr. Wendy wraps up the hour answering our listeners’ pet health questions.
